FAQ
Questions, answered plainly.
How DZERO works, what it can and can't do with your accounts, and what can still go wrong.
The basics
What does DZERO do?
It runs bots that hold a long on one perp DEX and a short of the same size on another, in the same market. Price moves cancel out between the two legs (delta zero, Δ0). What's left is the difference in funding between the two DEXs, plus the trading volume, which many DEXs reward with points.
What is funding, and why do DEXs pay different rates?
Perp DEXs keep their price near the spot price with funding: every hour (or every few hours) one side pays the other. Each DEX has its own traders, so its rate is different. When one DEX's longs are paid more, or pay less, than on another, a hedged pair earns the gap.
Is it risk-free?
No. A hedge removes most price risk, not all of it. The real risks are:
- one leg fills and the other doesn't, or a DEX goes down while you're in a trade;
- a sharp move pushes one leg toward liquidation before it can be closed;
- funding turns against the position;
- fees and spreads cost more than the funding earned;
- a DEX itself fails or pauses withdrawals.
DZERO's guards exist for the first three (see Safety below). They reduce the risk; they can't remove it.
What does Δ0 mean in the app?
It means a market's longs and shorts across all your DEXs are the same size, so you are hedged. The bar on the Overview shows shorts growing left in violet and longs growing right in cyan. If one side is bigger, it tilts and turns amber.
Getting started
How do I get access?
DZERO is in an invite-only beta. You sign in with an EVM wallet that has been added to the beta; it only signs a message, with no transaction and no gas. Open sign-up comes once every user's data is fully separated.
Which DEXs does it trade on?
Lighter (Robinhood chain), Arcus, Bulk, Entropy, RiseX, QFEX, Nado and Imperial (Phoenix). It also reads market data from a few others. A bot needs a trading key on at least two of them.
How much money do I need?
Enough margin on both DEXs for your size at your leverage, plus room for price moves. For example, $1,000 per side at 5x uses about $200 of margin on each DEX; keep more than that free. Some DEXs have a minimum order (Nado's is $100).
Why does a new bot place a small order and cancel it?
Before a bot's first trade on a DEX, it places a small limit order (about $10) that can't fill straight away, cancels it and checks the DEX agrees. You confirm this when you press Start live. It proves the key works before real money is at stake.
Keys and your funds
Does DZERO hold my money?
No. Your funds stay in your own account on each DEX. DZERO places orders for that account; it has no way to move funds to itself.
What exactly does DZERO get?
For each DEX, a trading key (an agent, session or API key, depending on the DEX) that you create and approve in your own wallet. It can place and cancel orders and set leverage. Your wallet's private key is never sent anywhere. The trading keys are stored encrypted on the DZERO server so bots can run while your browser is closed.
How do I remove a key?
Accounts → your DEX → Manage → Remove key. You can also revoke it on the DEX itself. DZERO won't remove a key while a bot is in a trade on that DEX, so a hedge is never left half-managed. Stop the bot first.
Bots
What kinds of bots are there?
Funding bot: two DEXs you choose; it enters the best market between them. Auto funding: you set the minimum profit and it picks the DEXs and market. Funding farm: it opens positions across all your DEXs on the highest-APR routes and keeps them while funding pays. It suits volume and points farming.
How does a bot choose a market?
From the hourly scan of every market on every DEX, it takes routes that pass every check:
- each side has at least $500k of 24h volume or open interest, and one side has $1.5M or more, so the position is easy to close;
- both sides offer at least 10x leverage;
- the price spread and slippage are small;
- the market hasn't moved too fast in the last 5 to 15 minutes.
Then it re-checks everything with fresh data right before it enters.
When does a bot close?
A timed bot closes when its hold time ends. A bot set to hold “until better”, and every farm position, closes when funding has cost more than leaving would for two checks in a row, or when another route pays clearly more after the cost of switching. Any bot closes early if a guard says so.
Why is my bot waiting instead of trading?
Usually no route pays more than it costs right now, or the routes on your DEXs don't meet the liquidity rule. It can also be a fast-moving market, a DEX that isn't answering, or new entries being paused for an hour after several protective closes in a row. The bot card says which, in words.
Can I stop everything at once?
Yes. The emergency stop (top of every page) blocks every new position immediately. Orders that close or reduce positions still go through.
Costs and points
What does it cost?
The DEXs' own trading fees and the spread, paid on the way in and on the way out. Bots place limit orders first on both legs; the hedge only pays the taker fee if the price moves away from it. Each bot card shows its real cost per $1M of volume, worked out from the DEXs' fills.
Will I get airdrops?
Many DEXs reward volume and open interest with points, and hedged volume counts. Whether a DEX turns points into an airdrop is up to that DEX. DZERO can't promise one.
Safety
What if one DEX goes down in the middle of a trade?
Every 30 seconds the exposure watchdog reads your positions on every DEX and checks each market is still hedged.
- After 60 seconds unhedged, you get a critical alert.
- After 3 minutes, it opens the opposite position on another healthy DEX.
- When the stuck DEX comes back, both are closed.
A DEX that doesn't answer is never acted on blindly.
What stops a leg from being liquidated?
The margin guard checks every open position every 10 seconds. If one leg has moved 60% of the way to its liquidation price (6% at 10x, 12% at 5x), both legs are closed. The bot re-enters later with fresh margin. The lost-leg guard closes the other side within seconds if one leg shrinks or disappears.
Can I get alerts on my phone?
Yes. In Settings → Phone alerts → Connect Telegram, tap Start in the chat that opens. Critical alerts arrive there, and /status shows what's open. The Telegram bot is read-only: nothing sent in chat can trade or move funds.
